You’re actually quite lucky on this one. First and foremost, I’m a BlackBerry fanatic … no matter what model you choose, I think it’s the best PDA/Smartphone on the planet. That said, I’d look into the BlackBerry Curve 8300 series. The providers will depend, but there are only four who offer BlackBerry service in your area… T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T (formerly Cingular) and Verizon. The cool thing is, you live about 30 minutes from the world’s only BlackBerry store: which has every BlackBerry phone offered by every provider on display in it’s store – and they all work. So, you could take a road trip to Farmington Hills and be able to not only try out every different type of BlackBerry phone, but also test it on every different carrier. I’ve been to the store and the staff is very knowledgeable. I’d highly recommend the trip – once you go BlackBerry, you’ll never use another brand of PDA or Smartphone.
